The body through the unconscious accurately stores memories of its daily life including the traumas. A person climbing a long flight of dark stairs who has a heart or asthma attack will find a sense of grim or foreboding when they walk those or similar stairs again. A football player who is injured in a tackle or on the bottom of a pile will discover, when he returns to those conditions, a generalized weakening of his muscles. Someone severely injured in a car accident will have the same weakening when they are exposed to similar conditions. The body is remembering those experiences and now it is acting to prevent re-injury. It is a normal healthy protective mechanism. However, if not cleared it can interfere with life. This memory will impact how the body rebuilds itself. If the unconscious holds the idea the bone was broken and will never be the same I can tell you how well it will repair.
I once made a presentation of this idea to a local hospital asking them to incorporate some strategy to clear the unconscious of people who have occupational injuries. Because if you do not clear the memories and you only retrain the person the same belief will cause another injury. As I was speaking I said to the representative it is like driving around a curve and loosing control causing an accident. When you drive through that area again you get this queasy uneasy feeling that tells you there is something that needs to be addressed. He immediately became flush and admitted he had passed through just such an event. Also, that he still could not drive through the corner feeling safe. Once it is cleared you are fine. You can remember the experience but there is no emotional content. If you leave it intact it can produce a weakening or distraction when you need to be strong, quick or just focused.
Clearing can be as simple as reassuring yourself you are safe and strong or it may require that you review the experience in a safe manor then re-writing it to make it better. Start simple by simply re-assuring yourself things are different and you are better now. If the emotional feeling passes then you have done your work well. If not, I would then imagine I was watching the experience on a TV or movie screen then after it plays out I would release any stored emotion (feel the feeling) then start it again but this time imagine it better. See it not happening or happening in a way that will leave you healthy and without limitation. After you have done this re-watch the new improved version several times quickly. You can deepen this by consciously breathing deeply as you work within your mind. The deeper breathing clears the respiration memory and at the same time causes the Unconscious to pay attention. In most cases these steps will clear the memory. You will also find more ideas plus video covering how to work with body memories on my Anchors page. If you have difficulty in doing this yourself find someone trained in psychiatry, psychology, suggestion, hypnosis or NLP and ask them to help you. I would avoid using chemical supports if you can simply because unless you have some exit plan you are trading a limiting experience for a dependency and that is not a cure.
